Professional Web Services: Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How long will it take to design and deploy our website?
    Once a Credit Union signs up for web services through Fiserv Galaxy, we send a Web Services Questionnaire and request additional graphics and marketing materials. Once we receive the requested information and the questionnaire is returned, it takes approximately 60 days to deploy an operational website.

  2. What kinds of items can serve as a content source for a new Credit Union website?
    Clients should provide us with as much information as possible. Besides answering the items in the questionnaire, marketing materials should be sent to the designers, who will review the information submitted and extract content accordingly.

  3. Our Credit Union does not have a domain name. Can Fiserv Galaxy help?
    Yes. Fiserv Galaxy offers domain name registration and management services. We can register domain names based most extensions (TLDs) for a nominal fee (beginning at $20 per domain, per year). Please Note: The registration rate for .coop domain names is $99 per year with a minimum initial registration period of
    2 years.

  4. If a Credit Union doesn't have an official logo, can Fiserv Galaxy help?
    Yes. In addition to our Web Services products, for an additional fee, we will create a logo for use on your site. We will also create the logo with your other marketing initiatives in mind, giving you the flexibility to use the graphic(s) as you see fit.

  5. If a client already has a website, why would they want it redesigned?
    As a rule, websites should be reviewed for improvements and enhancements on a regular basis with redesigns taken into consideration every 1.5 to 2 years. Sites that "worked" a few years ago, don't meet today's changing needs. By having their site redesigned, clients can reflect a more professional and up-to-date image and instill a greater sense of pride in their member community.

  6. Can you provide an example of how redesign can benefit the client and improve their website?
    Most of the older websites are graphics intensive. As a result, each page takes longer than necessary to download. A redesigned, streamlined web page with optimized graphics can download much faster than in the case with outdated designs. For example, one website redesigned by Fiserv Galaxy resulted in a reduction of download times of up to 14 seconds per page (e.g., from 23 seconds to 8 seconds)! This can result in happier customers/members, more site visitors, fewer unnecessary phone calls, and less stress.

  7. Can a client provide Fiserv Galaxy with examples of websites they'd like us to use as models?
    That's not a problem, but clients should be aware that website design has a set of guidelines and standards that are adhered to by Fiserv Galaxy designers. Fiserv Galaxy designers also pay strict attention to intellectual copyright-related issues. We do not copy other designs. Design is also based on content, so what works for one site (from a style perspective) may not work for another. If an example is submitted, we will review its various elements and proceed accordingly.

  8. We'd like to be able to change the interest rates on our site. Is this possible through Fiserv Galaxy?
    Fiserv Galaxy Web Services Clients will be able to log in to a password-protected portion of their website and make changes to interest rates. Once the changes are entered and saved, the data on the site will be updated in real-time.

  9. How much control do clients have over the initial look and feel of the website?
    Part of the design phase includes completion of a questionnaire by the client. The responses help provide the designers with critical information used to construct the look and feel of the site. Clients are provided with a draft of the look and feel and changes are made based on the feedback, in conjunction with and reflected by industry standards. Clients approve the look and feel of the site before it is deployed for use on the Internet.

  10. Once a site is deployed are clients able to make changes?
    To help provide and maintain the best product possible, professional-level website support and maintenance is provided by Fiserv Galaxy. Most clients desire access to the Rates page, which can be provided through a password-protected section of the site. Additional changes can be sent via e-mail. If the client desires direct access to make site changes, FTP access can be provided for an additional fee. In such a case, if the client desires to make direct modifications to the content, they will be required to notify Fiserv Galaxy when any changes have been made so that the site’s pages can be synchronized, eliminating the potential for overwriting their changes.

  11. What programs can clients use to make changes to website content?
    For standard editing, Dreamweaver is recommended. That’s the tool we’re using for site construction and maintenance. If clients simply desire to make minor changes, you can use Macromedia Contribute. It’s a more cost-effective solution – approximately $200 less than Dreamweaver. As previously stated, rate changes can be made by accessing a web page in a standard Internet browser.
